Survey Platform for walmart

The problem:
Walmart spends hundreds of thousands of dollars every year on contracts for multiple surveying playforms.

Across Walmart U.S. we noticed that dozens of different survey platforms were being utilized - some free, some paid contracts. Surveys are used by thousands of associates to poll their teammates, their office locations, or even poll their clients or vendors. Surveying your ‘customer’ is vital in continuing to build products or services that are user centric.

This was a lose - lose for Walmart.

If Walmart were to allow associates to use the free platforms (such as Survey Monkey or Typeform), Walmart data is unsecured and susceptible to a data breach. On the other hand, if Walmart were to only allow associates to create surveys on the approved, contracted platforms, the company would need to shell out thousands of dollars MORE than they already are.

Our Proposed Solution:

Create a survey platform that would be free for all associates to use and would utilize Walmart’s Single Sign On to secure the data.

Design, Research, Iterate, Repeat.

The survey platform was launched as an MVP with limited features. The goal: to work in an agile manner to release a platform with features that functioned well. Even before the initial launch, we made multiple iterations to the structure and flow of the platform after collecting insights from our user tests.

Over the next few months, we continued to include new features including conditional questioning, data visualization and survey settings.

Through user feedback, we’ve identified places for improvements to existing features such as making survey taking anonymous as well as adding new question types.

Results:

Today, There are currently over 3,000 surveys on the platform that are being created by employees in Walmart’s corporate offices, Walmart Stores and even Walmart International. Survey responses range from 10 responses to some surveys that receive over 20,000 Responses.
